Counting of MLC votes in Telangana... BJP leads.

Hyderabad: The counting of votes for the MLC elections in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, and Adilabad districts is continuing with suspense. So far, results for 9 rounds have been released. In the 9th round, BJP candidate Anji Reddy received 6,245 votes. By the end of 9 rounds, he had accumulated a total of 63,871 votes. Congress candidate Narendra Reddy garnered 6,921 votes in the 9th round. By the completion of 9 rounds, he had secured a total of 59,831 votes.

Currently, BJP candidate Anji Reddy is leading with a margin of 4,040 votes. Out of the total 2,24,000 votes to be counted, 1,89,000 votes have been processed so far. The counting of votes started on March 3 at the Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar district. On that day, invalid votes were being segregated and bundled. The actual vote counting began at 11:30 AM on Tuesday. A total of 2,52,100 votes were cast, including postal ballots, out of which 28,000 votes were declared invalid.

The remaining 2,24,100 votes are being counted in rounds of 21,000 each. In the six completed rounds so far, BJP candidate Anji Reddy has received 45,401 votes, Congress candidate Narendra Reddy has obtained 38,470 votes, and BSP candidate Prasanna Harikrishna has secured 31,481 votes. Meanwhile, some other candidates and independents are continuing with minimal votes. As the battle intensifies between the three main candidates, it seems unlikely that anyone will secure quota votes in the first preferential round. This could lead to a situation where the counting of second preferential votes will become necessary.
