This design is not entirely new. The Gornergrat Grat 5 offers a similar fold-out ring for a fraction of the price, but its elastic strap feels loose and less secure around the fingers. It looks as good on the day you take it out of the box as it does after living in your pocket, bag, or on the back of your phone.

Wireless charging remains a key consideration for any magnetic accessory. The Snap Grip Stand, like its predecessor, supports passthrough charging on many Qi and MagSafe pads. It does not have magnets embedded in the outer stand ring, so the stand and magnetic mounting cannot be used at the same time. But for most people, the ability to stick your phone to a magnetic charger or car mount while the grip is folded flat is the more valuable option.

Three small improvements

No product is perfect, and the Snap Grip Stand still has room for improvement. A lower price would be welcome. At $50, it is twice the price of the Gornergrat Grat 5 and significantly more than many simpler grips. However, OhSnap products frequently go on sale; we found ours at a major retailer for $40 after tax. That makes the premium feel more reasonable.

It would also be better if the stand's ring itself contained magnets, allowing you to use both the magnetic mounting and the stand simultaneously. That change would make the accessory even more versatile, letting you prop your phone on a magnetic surface in a vertical orientation without needing to adjust the outer ring physically.

Finally, opening the grip one-handed remains a bit of a two-step process. You need to pull the interlocking joints apart with one hand while holding the phone with the other. Competitors like Tango use a spring-loaded mechanism that pops open when pressed, but that spring can feel too aggressive between your fingers, pushing them apart. OhSnap's manual opening is a fair trade-off for the secure, customizable fit.

The verdict after months of use

We tested the OhSnap Snap Grip Stand for several months, and the result is simple: it never came off the phone. It is thin enough that you forget it is there, secure enough to trust with a $1,000 phone, and versatile enough to replace a PopSocket, a MagSafe ring, and a desktop stand. It works with the Pixel 9, Galaxy S25, and any phone with a magnetic case or an adhesive magnet ring.
