New Delhi: In connection with the cryptocurrency scam in Puducherry, the Puducherry police have decided to question Tollywood actresses Tamannaah and Kajal Aggarwal. A retired government employee from Puducherry, Ashokan, filed a complaint with the police stating that a total of ₹3.4 crore was swindled from 11 people under the pretext of cryptocurrency investments promising high returns. The scam was initiated by a cryptocurrency company that began operations in Coimbatore in 2022. During the launch, actress Tamannaah and other prominent personalities attended the event as guests.
Later, actress Kajal Aggarwal attended the company's event at a star hotel in Mahabalipuram. Following that, a party was organized aboard a cruise ship in Mumbai, where celebrities were invited. The event attracted large crowds, and the company lured people into investing by showcasing the promise of high returns. Subsequently, ₹3.4 crore was collected from several thousand people in Puducherry. In the course of the investigation, two individuals, Nithesh Jain (36) and Aravind Kumar (40), have been taken into custody.
The accused, who swindled large sums of money from the victims, had promised high returns on investments. However, the victims were later prevented from withdrawing their funds, and eventually, it was revealed that the entire operation was a fraud. As part of the investigation, the police have decided to question actresses Tamannaah and Kajal Aggarwal. Puducherry Cyber Crime SP Dr. Baskaran stated that within just three months of the company’s launch, the accused had collected more than ₹1.10 crore from 100 people.
